Fireproof Delivers

 

Fireproof is the latest offering from Alex and Stephen Kendrick, two brothers who are ministers at the Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Our family enjoyed their first two films Flywheel and Facing the Giants.

 

We set out to see Fireproof not expecting it to compete with Hollywood in the areas of writing, casting and acting. We were mostly right. The writing is not as tight as we’ve come to expect with higher budget movies. Some of the casting was not realistic, but we managed to look past that. Fireproof provided moments of high intensity and delivered the strong message we expected from its creators.

 

Fireproof’s theme—marriage is sacred and worth fighting for—is an important one in today’s culture where marriage is view as disposable. The movie reminded us that only God’s unconditional love for us can work through us to provide the foundation of love every marriage needs.
