Hello Writers,

Hope you are taking advantage of this wonderful fall weather and curling up with a good book—yours! As the days grow shorter and the weather gets cooler, it is a great time to hunker down and get some writing done.

Seasons are changing and so are we. The Inspire blog is about to go through an exciting metamorphosis. In the coming weeks we will unveil an all-new Inspire website. Our goal is to provide support to all the writers in our local groups and writers who stop by for help online.

Sharon is a gifted story-teller with a remarkable ability to create characters that whisk readers away to another time and place. She is coming to share her experience and expertise with us. She is optimistic, encouraging and a deep well of wisdom.

 

Sharon’s first book, A Heavenly Christmas in Hometown (which was also adapted as a play) was followed by two novels published by NavPress in 2008: Every Good and Perfect Gift and Lying on Sunday. New Critique Group: El Dorado Hills

A new Inspire Christian Writers Critique Group is forming this week. The group will be led by Joanne Kraft and will meet at SunHills Community Church in El Dorado Hills. An informational meeting will take place this Thursday, August 27th at 9:30am. Childcare is provided.

Photo Shoot, Food and Fellowship Event

Photo Shoot, Food &Fellowship

The Inspire Christian Writers Groups, The Sacramento Christian Writers and the Amador Christian Writers are joining forces for an exciting event on August 15 from 10am-3pm. You won’t want to miss this!

 

Our groups have made it possible to update your headshot. We have two fantastic photographers who will capture your best looks for business cards, press passes, marketing and social networking.

 

We will print your press passes on-site and help you order business cards online. You will also receive your headshots on a CD to use for blogging, marketing and social networking purposes.

 

What to wear:

Bright, solid colors. No white, beige or cream.

Make-up suitable for photographs. (There won’t be time to do your makeup at the event. Come prepared.)

 

What to bring:

A salad, finger food or dessert item to share.

Pressed powder compact and any touch-up makeup you may want.

A toothbrush.

A credit card to order your business cards. The cost will be minimal: $5-20.

In addition to having our headshots taken, we will fellowship and network with members from other local Christian writing groups.

Two New Groups Forming in Elk Grove and Fair Oaks!

Hello writers,

I have wonderful news to share! We are starting two new critique groups in Elk Grove and Fair Oaks.

Elk Grove:

If you live in or around Elk Grove, I hope you will join us for critique meetings on the 2^nd Tuesday of each month.  Beginning Tuesday, July 14, we will meet at my house from 7-9pm.

Need directions? Call me at 916-607-7796.

Also, there will be no meetings at Ettore’s on the 2^nd Tuesdays.

Fair Oaks:

If you are looking for daytime meetings and live in the Fair Oaks/Sacramento area, we have a new critique group meeting at Sunrise Community Church beginning August 11^th at 10am. Sue Tornai will lead the group. The address is 8321 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks CA 95628.

A Double Dose of Book Signing Fun
